Location: Bergen County, NJ
One of the leading law firms in NJ is growing and is looking for a Family Law Attorney who will zealously represent clients in all areas of family law. Candidates should have experience with prenuptial agreements and attending court hearings for divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child support. In addition, candidates should have experience with a range of sensitive legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence.
Compensation: $100,000 – $150,000 yearly
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date
- Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings
- Prepare Family Law related documents including pleadings and correspondence
- Provide legal counsel and strategy to clients by analyzing their needs and determining the proper course of action
- Represent clients in court
- Must be prepared to step in and handle pieces of existing family law cases; as well as handle new cases as part of a team, from initial consultation to trial
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Active membership with the ABA (American Bar Association)
- Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants
- Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high
- Undergraduate degree with a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required
- Must be admitted to practice in New Jersey
- Minimum of 3 years of family law experience but more experience preferred
- Can handle own caseload with independent decision making and has some trial experience
- Strong written, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Must be self-motivated and organized
- Excellent research skills
- An existing book of business is a plus, but not required
