The Logistics Manager is an integral role for the Operations team reporting directly to the Director, Logistics. This individual will manage transportation and warehouse operations to ensure competitive, cost-efficient, and responsive service for warehouse-delivered products. You will drive the strategic operating plans and objectives to achieve the optimum service levels through cost-efficient, integrated logistics systems. In addition, the Manager, Logistics will lead by example and develop two direct reports, going above and beyond to empower their team. Success in this role will require an individual who takes an owner’s approach to their work, leading with a bias for action and a strong cross-functional partnership, internally and externally.



  • Establish transportation budget based on volume forecast that delivers on corporate, cost objectives – Measure cost, capacity and service as it relates to inbound and out-bound transportation
  • Lead quarterly carrier review meetings; Identify improvement areas and align on capacity needs
  • Lead team in developing root cause analysis for OS&Ds and freight claims


  • Establishing warehouse budget based on volume forecast.
  • Partner with 3PL warehousing providers to deliver key metrics in areas of cost, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Continuously assess warehouse network to ensure optimal cost and efficiency
  • Ensure 3PLs are meeting all SGF Quality, Safety and Accounting guidelines
  • Partner with Special Services team to deliver project initiatives at optimal cost


  • Maintain daily physical inventory accuracy and system synchronicity between SGF, 3PLs and CoMan locations.
  • Manage the inventory reconciliation process to meet accuracy targets, including the research of inventory discrepancies, root-cause analysis, and deployment of corrective actions to mitigate re-occurrence
  • Manage the cycle count and annual end-of-year physical count process for all locations
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure in stock levels are met without creating NPI
  • Identify risk(s) to Inventory and Sales team and offer solutions
  • Participate in all other miscellaneous SMPL and departmental tasks, as required
  • Attend departmental/cross-functional meetings
  • Travel Requirements: 10%

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Microsoft Office proficiency; Microsoft D365 knowledge, a plus
  • Excellent Excel skills; Exceptional data analysis and reconciliation skills
  • Demonstrated track record of success in identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to develop diverse talent and create an inclusive work environment
  • Ability to stay on top of industry trends and network with industry leaders on latest technology
  • Comprehensive inventory control module knowledge for WMS, ERP and process manufacturing systems
  • Proven ability to research / reconcile inventory discrepancies, and identify improvement opportunities


  • Bachelor’s degree, highly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience working in an Operations / Supply Chain role at a CPG warehouse
  • Minimum 4 years proven experience managing a team and developing talent
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience with external vendor management and negotiations (i.e. KPIs, Scorecards, Performance Improvement, etc.)
  • Experience using Network Optimization software (e.g. Llamasoft) & Analytical Software (PBI, Cliqview, etc.), preferred

** Work is performed in a fast-paced office environment and may be stressful at times. Work may require sitting for long periods of time; requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and fax machine and scanner.

The compensation available for this role includes base salary, and an annual short-term bonus. All incentive plans are subject to management and Board of Directors discretion.

• The hiring range for this role is $105,000 – $125,000 annual base salary **.
• The annual short-term incentive target for this role is: 15% of your annual base salary.
