Job Summary:
The Senior Procurement Manager at is responsible for leading the procurement function within the company. This role involves strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and ensuring the timely supply of high-quality raw materials, packaging, services and office supplies to meet production demands. The role also involves managing a procurement team, optimizing procurement processes, and driving cost savings while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure a consistent supply of raw materials, packaging, services and office supplies.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and secure the best possible terms.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including RFQs, RFPs, and supplier selection.
2.Supplier Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and stakeholders.
- Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery and cost, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Collaborate with suppliers to identify opportunities for innovation, cost reduction, and process improvement.
3. Cost Management & Budgeting:
- Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring alignment with the company’s annual financial objectives.
- Drive cost savings initiatives while maintaining the required quality and service levels.
- Monitor market trends and industry developments to anticipate pricing shifts and supply chain risks.
4. Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Set clear goals and performance expectations, and provide regular feedback and development opportunities.
- Ensure continuous improvement of procurement processes and capabilities within the team.
5.Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation to support audits and regulatory reviews.
6. Collaboration & Cross-functional Coordination:
- Work closely with other departments, including Production, Supply Chain and Planning, Commercial, R&D, QA and Finance, to align procurement activities with business objectives.
- Support new product development by sourcing new ingredients, packaging materials and pricing as required.
7. Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs in the procurement function.
- Leverage technology and data analytics to enhance procurement decision-making and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of procurement experience, with at least 3-5 years in a senior procurement role within the food manufacturing industry.
- Dry Ingredients, Commodities and Packaging buying experience needed.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality standards.
- Proven negotiation skills and experience in managing supplier contracts and relationships.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
