JOB DESCRIPTION:

The company is the largest engineering, procurement, and construction provider in North America in their field. We are seeking a VP of Finance, reporting to the CFO and partnering with the GM, who will have an impact and influence the next several years of rapid growth for the EPC division. The right candidate will do this through complex financial analysis, reporting, and general business partnership across all aspects of the business to drive EBITDA and optimize resources.

  • Serve as the dedicated strategic financial advisor for all of EPC leadership.
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, KPIs, objectives, policies, and operating procedures that align with company goals and provide business insights to the business leadership.
  • Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets.
  • Work closely with Operations teams to understand project financial performance and ensure that updated project forecasts are reasonable and reflected in the Corporate forecast
  • Identify and understand project variances, changes, and risks, and ensure that their impact is incorporated into the financial forecast
  • Propose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives are attained, serving as a key advisor to support operational leaders.
  • Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends across the project portfolio in order to assist the division GM and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
  • Coordinate and actively participate in recurring cross-functional meetings with Operations, Project Accounting, Corporate FP&A and other internal stakeholders to understand and report on project financial performance
  • Maintain a view of the current and forecast performance of the portfolio based on development and construction projects
  • Support the division GM in the preparation of materials and communication of division financial performance to the senior management team
  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations to drive operating profit.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures of the organization that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the business.
  • Coordinate with Corporate finance to develop project cash flow models & reporting mechanisms that meet operating needs.
  • Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the EPC division may enter. Ensure that all parties to the contracts have the financial resources to support payment once the project begins.
  • Special projects / Ad-hoc analyses – provide summarized and in-depth financial analyses per request, as well as take initiative to prepare impactful analyses that support sales and operations trends, as well as opportunities for improvement.
  • Accountable for developing and implementing a quarterly rolling forecast process, coordinating financial modeling, and insights.
  • Improve life-cycle project modeling and tracking through partnership and collaboration with business unit leadership to enhance medium and long-term forecasting.
  • Work closely with other senior financial personnel on improving cash and liquidity forecasting for development and construction activities across the platform.
  • Drive continued improvement in performance management and reporting as a key contributor to the team’s development.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to proactively engage with the business to recognize problems, implement solutions and drive business performance as part of an integrated, cross-functional business team.
  • Maintains scenario analysis and assesses risks and opportunities across current and multi-year periods to optimize operating profit and capital investment.

QUALIFICATIONS/ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • CPA, CFA or MBA preferred
  • Construction or Engineering experience is preferred but will consider strong candidates from similar industries with a strong focus on production
  • A minimum of 10 years experience with progressively increased responsibility in a high-performing organization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across the business and influence external stakeholders.
  • Strategic finance leader with the credibility and strength to influence and shape decisions.
  • Attention to detail, hands-on committed leader, with strong collaborative ability
