Staff Accountant – Payroll Focus
100% Onsite in Lafayette, CO | $70,000–$80,000/year | Full-Time | Growing Multi-State Company
We’re partnering with a rapidly growing organization with operations in Colorado and Arizona to help find their next Staff Accountant. This is a permanent, onsite role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment where not every process is set in stone (yet). If you’re a hands-on problem solver with a strong accounting foundation and a love for payroll — we want to hear from you!
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Process bi-weekly and weekly payroll for 200+ multi-state employees, both hourly and salaried
- Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries, accruals, and bank reconciliations
- Reconcile accounts related to payroll and 401(k) contributions
- Support month-end close processes related to payroll
- Investigate variances and ensure payroll data ties out accurately
- Navigate multiple systems (QuickBooks Online, payroll software, Google Suite)
- Identify process improvements and help build out missing procedures post-system implementation
- Respond to payroll-related employee inquiries
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Solid experience with journal entries, payroll, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Google Suite, and a payroll system
- Experience running multi-state payroll for 200+ employees
- Exposure to variance analysis and ability to dig into discrepancies
- Comfort working in ambiguous environments and solving complex problems
- Familiarity with integrated systems
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with Paylocity and/or 7shifts
- Past success automating or improving a payroll or accounting process
- Experience fielding employee payroll questions
