BrainWorks has partnered with a $180M+ highly automated global manufacturing and design company. The Senior Director of Distribution & Logistics will report to the General Manager / CIO, Americas and be a key part of leading and managing the activities of US-based plant operations to support company growth strategies, digital transformation and financial targets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background within lean manufacturing operations for smaller component products, excellent leadership skills and a passion for driving and inspiring a continuous improvement culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop team organizational structure, communicate company vision and core values, set direction, as well as inspire, motivate, and mentor a multi-site team across warehouse distribution/fulfillment, production, quality, safety, transportation and logistics.
- Direct the overall operations team to ensure fast order processing, accurate inventory control, proper and timely receipt/stocking of goods, cost-efficient shipping direct to customers and effective processing of returns
- Initiate and coordinate capex plan and major capital or other projects, (i.e., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.)
- Develop a $2M+ annual operating budget and execute all operational activities to meet or exceed financial plan
- Support digital transformation including ERP/WMS/AI system selection, roll-outs and enhancements
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement that leverages Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to drive efficiencies and cost savings
- Collaborate with executive team and fellow senior leaders in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, including operational footprint strategies, policies, programs and objectives
- Communicate and collaborate with global leaders outside of US operations and counterparts to share information as appropriate, develop consistent practices and reporting, share and implement best practices
Desired Experience:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in an operational leadership role within manufacturing or distribution environments at mid-sized fast growth companies
- Demonstrated expertise in Continuous Improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies in a management/leadership role
- Experience qualifying and working with non-US vendors with diverse locations, languages and cultures and managing the logistics of shipments to company and diverse customer locations
- Experience building and implementing processes to support rapid business growth in a mid-sized company
- Solid understanding and working knowledge of ERP systems, Dynamics 365 preferred
- Strong project management, organizational, planning, and analytical skills
- Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred
- Ability to travel up to 50% across US locations
- Familiarity with blinds or window covering manufacturing processes is a plus.
