WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
The Sr. Logistics Specialist – VMI is responsible for driving inventory efficiency across both retail and non-retail VMI sites, which represent a significant share of company revenue. Key responsibilities include defining the right SKUs for VMI placement, setting and managing inventory targets, and ensuring high service levels across all sites. The role also oversees the identification and removal of obsolete or excess stock to optimize performance. In addition, this role serves as a key liaison, clearly communicating changes to inventory targets and strategies with both internal partners and external stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Vendor Managed Inventory – Manages and maintains customer’s inventory replenishment levels and stock based on approved schedule and targets for Kroger McLane
- Monitors and analyzes utilization, product availability, forecasts, fill rate, and lead times to prepare VMI models
- Responsible for creating reporting and providing analytical expertise – tracking all metrics and identifying trends and/or issues that may impact inventory levels
- Maintains VMI parameters, calculations, and data feeds to accurately generate replenishment orders
- Responsible for order accuracy; ensuring the right products are ordered; prices, deals & allowances are correct; the correct method of shipment is applied to the order & adequate lead time is given to ensure on-time delivery to the customers
- Closely monitor customer orders up until point of delivery to ensure inventory arrives in a timely manner
- Ensures alignment with fulfillment, purchasing/planning, transportation providers & distributors to deliver superior service in executing daily/weekly/monthly shipment volume
- Meets assigned targets for fill rates, score card results, and strategic objectives in assigned accounts.
- Work closely with sales teams to order promotional volumes and displays
- Investigates & resolves issues resulting in penalties & fines due to transportation and inventory compliance requirements.
- Identify strategic opportunities for areas of potential improvement & ability to leverage network to move initiatives forward
- Establishes productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts
- Establishes productive, professional relationships with key personnel as it relates to the VMI system provider
- Provides leadership and training to customer service team
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
- Participates in all other miscellaneous ANI and departmental tasks as required
KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
- In-depth knowledge of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) principles, systems, and tools (e.g., Prescient), with the ability to apply best practices to optimize inventory performance
- Solid understanding of export regulations and documentation requirements, ensuring compliance and accuracy in international shipments
- Proven ability to analyze complex issues, develop solutions, and resolve problems both independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Strong project and task management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities of varying complexity while consistently meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and deliver timely, error-free results
- Skilled at tracking, synthesizing, and interpreting data from diverse sources to support informed decision-making and operational efficiency
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or related field
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel required
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in VMI, planning, or customer logistics within the CPG industry
- Proven experience collaborating with major retailers (e.g., Walmart, Kroger) required
- Strong knowledge of inventory fulfillment, replenishment, and end-to-end supply chain processes
- Hands-on experience with EDI and WMS systems – Prescient, strong plus
- Proficiency in ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365)
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments while delivering accurate, timely results

We provide the base salary range, exclusive of benefits or additional incentives (https://www.thesimplygoodfoodscompany.com/careers). Additionally, this position is eligible for a 10% annual short-term incentive. If you are hired at Simply Goods Foods, your final base salary compensation will be determined based upon such factors as: geographic locations, skills, training, education and/or experience. Please keep in mind that hiring at the compensation range maximum would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
HQ or OFFICE-BASED:
CO salary range is: $75,000 – $85,000
CA salary range is: $79,000 – $89,000
