SUMMARY

We’re retained by a PE-backed, fast-paced consumables brand to hire a VP of eCommerce. This executive will own the entire eCommerce business—P&L, assortment, media spend, vendor management, and drop ship—and lead a major transformation. The ideal candidate brings deep Amazon expertise, a true GM mindset, strong analytical horsepower, and experience operating in high-velocity consumables. This is a rare opportunity for an entrepreneurial builder to have a massive impact on a rapidly evolving organization.

Strategic Leadership

  • Build and execute a holistic eCommerce strategy across major marketplaces and emerging channels, prioritizing profitable growth and market share.
  • Identify expansion opportunities, competitive gaps, and long-term digital growth pathways.

P&L & Business Ownership

  • Own the full eCommerce and digital marketing P&L.
  • Set sales, margin, and profitability targets while ensuring disciplined spend and high ROI.

Marketplace Growth

  • Accelerate performance across Amazon, Chewy (or similar), and other marketplaces by optimizing pricing, listings, media, and contribution margins.
  • Oversee retail media strategy to increase traffic, conversion, and visibility

Assortment, Merchandising & Content

  • Lead SKU optimization to focus resources on top-performing items.
  • Drive best-in-class content (imagery, copy, SEO) to improve conversion and customer experience.

Operational Excellence

  • Partner with supply chain and fulfillment to ensure strong demand planning, inventory availability, and on-time delivery.
  • Reduce stockouts, improve service levels, and strengthen channel reliability.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing eCommerce team.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, marketing, operations, and product teams to support launches, promotions, and omnichannel initiatives.

Future Growth & Innovation

  • Oversee digital and retail media strategies to drive acquisition and retention.
  • Develop long-term plans for DTC, CRM, and other strategic growth engines.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years in eCommerce, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Proven success driving growth and profitability in major marketplaces (Amazon required).
  • GM Mindset: Demonstrated ownership of business levers—P&L, pricing, margin, retention, media mix, operations.
  • Analytical Strength: Skilled at using data to guide decisions, evaluate ROI, optimize assortment, and improve performance.
  • Marketplace Expertise: Deep understanding of eCommerce best practices across performance marketing, SEO/SEM, operations, merchandising, and content. Experience in DTC and CRM is a plus.
  • Leadership & Influence: Strong people leader with a track record of driving cross-functional alignment and delivering results in fast-paced environments.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
