Our client is a $200M+ heavy equipment dealer for public works and contractors that support them. This position will spearhead the strategy and growth for a new division of their company – the utility market. The ideal candidate can reside in Texas, northern California, Oregon or Washington.

Our client is seeking a dynamic and results-driven National Sales Leader to lead the startup of a new Sales and Rental division focused on Utility equipment for public works and contractors that support them. This individual will oversee three (3) salespeople focused in OR, WA & northern CA, as well as developing sales and rental opportunities across the US. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the utility equipment industry, a strong background in team leadership, and a proven track record in business development and operations management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with our VP to develop the utility equipment division’s overall sales and rental strategy.
  • Oversee three (3) salespeople located in OR, WA & Northern CA
  • Identify market trends, opportunities, and competitive dynamics to position the division for long-term success.
  • Drive new customer acquisition and grow relationships with key accounts in the utility and construction sectors.
  • Work with VP to develop strategies, sales targets, and overall direction of this new division
  • Build a sales pipeline, manage sales cycles, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Work with VP to ensure proper equipment inventory management, logistics, and customer service.
  • Work with VP & local service departments to ensure equipment rental, returns, and servicing processes to maximize uptime and customer satisfaction.
  • Establish sales KPIs to monitor performance local and national sales performance.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performance sales team.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and growth culture across all company divisions.
  • Lead training and development efforts to ensure team members are equipped with industry knowledge and best practices.
  • Work with VP to develop and manage the division’s budget, forecast revenue, and control costs.
  • Monitor profit margins, rental rates, and inventory utilization to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Work with VP to develop product lines as we well and investments in product growth both for sales as well as rental. Will be overseeing $5 to $10M in annual cap-x investments.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior management on the division’s performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in sales and operations roles with an infrastructure equipment company or similar equipment company, preferably selling to the utility market.
  • Proven track record of building and leading teams in a high-growth environment.
  • Experience with rental operations is a strong plus.
  • Strong leadership and team sales management abilities.
  • Excellent business acumen, with the ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Solid understanding of the utility equipment market, rental processes, and customer needs.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Entrepreneurial and ownership mindset.
  • Ability to analyze data, develop actionable insights, and drive results.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field desirable but not required.
