About the Role:

The Director of Accounting is a key leader responsible for overseeing the accounting department’s operations, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of all accounting processes. This role involves managing critical areas such as journal entries, capital expenditures, fixed asset tracking, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reporting. Additionally, the Director ensures compliance with SOX regulations, internal controls, and company policies. The position is also central to strategic financial planning, leading a team of professionals, and collaborating with senior leadership to align financial goals with business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Supervise the preparation, analysis, and review of financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for both internal leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Manage capital expenditures and oversee the reconciliation of fixed assets and general ledger accounts.
  • Maintain adherence to SOX requirements and other regulatory standards, ensuring a strong internal control environment.
  • Support both internal and external audits by supplying necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with senior management on financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to provide strategic insights and recommendations for enhancing performance.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements to increase the efficiency and accuracy of accounting practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s preferred).
  • At least 10 years of accounting experience, including 5 years in a managerial capacity.
  • CPA certification is highly preferred.
  • Extensive experience in financial reporting, budgeting, general ledger management, and audits.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance, and accounting best practices.
