Our client is seeking an Interim Senior Accountant to play a key role in financial accounting, reporting, and analysis for a project-based environment. This position will support the financial operations of federally funded construction projects and project-related reporting. We’re looking for a results-oriented, innovative professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, who can prioritize tasks and collaborate across departments effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and monitor reimbursements for federally funded construction projects
- Develop operational and management reporting for projects, including analysis
- Present project results to management and the executive team
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with GAAP
- Assist with month-end close coordination
- Review accounting records for accuracy and compliance with company policies
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and monitor account activity
- Prepare financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Support the annual financial audit process
- Identify areas for potential improvement within the Finance & Accounting Department
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including journal entry preparation and analysis
- Strong understanding of financial statements and General Ledger activity
- Industry experience in Utilities, Construction, or Manufacturing
- Experience with automated ERP systems (e.g., JD Edwards or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, V-lookups)
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or MBA
- Direct experience with JD Edwards
