WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are seeking a Quality Manager to oversee food safety and quality for our Contract Manufacturing partners (CoMan). In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality are maintained in finished product
manufacturing. The Quality Manager will foster strong relationships with our CoMan partners, providing guidance and support to drive continuous improvement and compliance at a corporate level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Actively upholds and promotes the company’s purpose and values to ensure alignment across all actions and decisions.
• Oversee 6-10 contract manufacturers to ensure product safety and quality; continuously improve their Quality Scorecards.
• Provide expertise on our ISO 22000-based food safety management system; conduct internal audits as needed.
• Implement food safety best practices aligned with our SGF’s Food Safety Management System and comply with applicable regulations such as FDA, CFIA, USDA etc..
• Conduct risk-based audits of existing and new contract manufacturers and suppliers.
• Collaborate with R&D to ensure scalable and cost-effective processes for product development.
• Troubleshoot food safety and quality issues, managing them through the internal nonconformance management process.
• Update co-man scorecards monthly, focusing on improving trends by identifying clear action plans and timely resolution.
• Participate in the finished product specification and supplier approval process, ensuring a risk assessment approach and continuous improvement activities.
• Establish and execute policies and procedures that meet quality and regulatory requirements; ensure successful change control.
• Collaborate with R&D and Supply Chain operations to solve complex problems with innovative solutions.
• Manage QA aspects of large, complex projects; negotiate QA-related deliverables with multiple functional groups.
• Participate and assist with evaluations of finished product retention and new production samples.
• Ensure packaging labels are accurate and comply with relevant regulations.
• Plan and lead periodic trace exercises for annual mock recalls.
• Participate in special projects and departmental tasks as required.
• Attend departmental and cross-functional meetings.

KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

• Ability to manage multiple quality and food safety activities across various contract manufacturers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
• Adaptability to changing departmental and company needs.
• Strong conflict resolution skills; capable of tactfully managing issues.
• Independent judgment for planning, prioritizing, and organizing a diversified workload.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated with a desire to impact quality and safety.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
• PCQI and GFSI Certification strongly preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Expertise in Food Safety and Quality Systems: FSMA, FSVP, HACCP, GMPs, Sanitation, Allergen Program, Food Defense.
• Knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Audit Schemes; ISO 22000/FSSC Certification experience preferred.
• General understanding of FDA and USDA regulations.
• Travel 30-40%

Additionally, this position is eligible for a 15% annual short-term incentive. If you are hired at Simply Goods Foods, your final base salary compensation will be determined based upon such factors as: geographic locations, skills, training, education and/or experience. Please keep in mind that hiring at the compensation range maximum would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.

HQ / Office:
CA salary range is: $110,000 – $130,000
CO salary range is: $105,000 – $125,000
