Job Overview:
As the Sales Director, you will be responsible for leading and managing the sales team to achieve and exceed sales targets while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will play a critical role in hiring, coaching, and developing a high-performing sales team, as well as driving sales performance management processes to ensure consistent growth and success. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills and a deep understanding of sales processes and performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Leadership and Team Development:
- Recruit, hire, and onboard top talent to build a strong, diverse, and high-performing sales team.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and professional development to sales managers and representatives to enhance their skills and performance.
- Develop and implement training programs and sales strategies to improve sales effectiveness and productivity.
- Create a motivating and supportive team environment that encourages collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
2.Sales Performance Management:
- Set clear sales targets, goals, and KPIs for the sales team, ensuring alignment with company objectives and market potential.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance, providing regular feedback, guidance, and actionable insights to sales managers and reps.
- Implement performance improvement plans for underperforming team members and recognize and reward high performers.
- Conduct regular sales meetings and performance reviews to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
3.Strategic Sales Planning:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with the company’s growth objectives and market trends.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify new business opportunities, target markets, and potential partnerships.
- Analyze market data, customer feedback, and competitor activity to adjust sales strategies and tactics as needed.
- Ensure consistent sales forecasting, pipeline management, and accurate reporting.
4.Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders to drive long-term business growth.
- Support the sales team in negotiating contracts and closing deals, ensuring the best possible outcomes for both the company and the customer.
- Oversee the implementation of CRM tools and processes to enhance customer engagement and sales effectiveness.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with marketing, operations, and finance teams to align sales efforts with broader company goals and strategies.
- Provide feedback and insights to product and service teams to improve offerings based on customer needs and market demand.
- Participate in strategic planning and budgeting activities to ensure alignment of sales objectives with company priorities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, with a proven track record of driving sales growth and managing high-performing sales teams.
- Strong experience in hiring, coaching, and developing sales talent, with a focus on performance management and team success.
- Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships at all levels.
- Ability to analyze data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions to optimize sales performance.
- Knowledge of the commercial paving or construction industry is strongly preferred but not required.
