Senior Cost Accountant

Our client is a growing manufacturing organization expanding its operations and investing in its accounting systems and processes. They are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to provide hands-on support across cost accounting, inventory, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial analysis.

This role will partner closely with Operations and spend time on the factory floor to understand production activity, investigate cost and inventory discrepancies, and ensure operational activity is accurately reflected in the financials. The Senior Cost Accountant will also play a key role in the company’s transition to Epicor Kinetic while helping strengthen inventory controls and accounting processes as the organization continues to grow.

Responsibilities

• Perform and support manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory, production costs, cost allocations, and related GL activity.
• Complete inventory and general ledger reconciliations, research discrepancies, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and variances across materials, labor, inventory, and production activity.
• Partner directly with Operations and manufacturing teams to investigate and resolve accounting and costing issues.
• Support the monthly close process and help ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Participate in the implementation and transition to Epicor Kinetic, including testing, data validation, process development, and troubleshooting.
• Support inventory reconciliation and help establish stronger cycle-count and inventory-control processes.
• Use Excel extensively to analyze large datasets, reconcile accounts, investigate variances, and build financial and cost models from scratch.
• Identify opportunities to improve cost accounting, inventory controls, and overall accounting processes as the business continues to grow.

Qualifications

• 4–6+ years of cost accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting, inventory accounting, cost accounting, and GL reconciliations.
• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, large-data analysis, and building models from scratch.
• ERP experience required; Epicor Kinetic experience is a strong plus.
• ERP implementation, system conversion, or upgrade experience highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and ability to develop practical, compliant solutions.
• Comfortable working closely with Operations and spending time in a manufacturing/factory environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and determine root causes.
• Adaptable and comfortable working in a growing environment where processes and systems continue to evolve.
