Senior Demand Planner

The Sr. Demand Planner is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with their assigned brands and customers. This individual will create, implement and maintain advanced forecast models, incorporate business intelligence, and forecast information gathered from Sales, Marketing, Finance, retailer replenishment analysis, and other sources (i.e., Circana or other syndicated consumer data). The Sr. Demand Planner plays a key role in S&OP processes & cross-functional initiatives, leading conversations and presentations with key counterparts in Sales, Marketing, and Operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop demand plans (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function using the Demand Planning forecasting tool (Anaplan)
  • Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results
  • Understanding of and ability to incorporate sales, marketing and syndicated data into the forecasting model (this includes seasonality, competitive activity, trends, ad plans, category role, sales objectives and sales drivers)
  • Work with sales team to ensure Trade Promotion Management plans are properly aligned in the Demand Plan
  • Reconcile significant forecast variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions
  • Monitor abnormal demand and take corrective action to prevent reoccurrence, maximize customer service and minimize distressed inventory
  • Collaborate with senior management in Sales, Marketing, and Operations, present forecasts during daily/weekly/monthly S&OP process, and support strategic decision-making
  • Lead & represent your Brand and Customer Demand Plans in discussions on inventory strategies, item life-cycle management, product transitions, and other Operations projects as required
  • Accountable for weekly, monthly and rolling 3-month forecast accuracy improvement at brand, category and item levels
  • Participate in process improvement efforts in all areas related to S&OP, Demand Planning process and technology
  • Prepare and maintain relevant reports pertaining to demand planning process and create ad hoc reporting, as needed
  • Participate in special projects and assignments as required
  • Participate in all other miscellaneous SMPL and departmental tasks as required
  • Attends departmental/cross-functional meetings

KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of end-to-end supply chain & impact demand planning has on results
  • Demonstrated success solving problems collaboratively via your leadership
  • Knowledge in Trade Promotion Management systems and software
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of statistics and statistical forecasting tools
  • Outstanding computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment; Expert skills in Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex, technical forecasting and statistical problems

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/BA degree in business or a technical field, preferred
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of direct experience in retail / wholesale planning
  • Relevant experience in food planning, S&OP processes, process implementations, etc.
  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems
  • Experience using forecasting software such as Anaplan, SAP/APO, Netstock, Logility, etc.)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The health, satisfaction and well-being of our employees are important to us and an integral part of our organization’s goals. In this spirit, we are excited to share the available compensation for this role, which includes a base salary range and an annual short-term incentive.

We provide the base salary range, exclusive of benefits or additional incentives (https://www.thesimplygoodfoodscompany.com/careers). Additionally, this position is eligible for a 10% annual short-term incentive. If you are hired at Simply Goods Foods, your final base salary compensation will be determined based upon such factors as: geographic locations, skills, training, education and/or experience. Please keep in mind that hiring at the compensation range maximum would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.

HQ or OFFICE-BASED:

  • CA salary range is: $83,000-$103,000
  • CO salary range is: $78,000-$97,000
