A leading mid-sized manufacturing company is seeking an Interim Senior Financial Analyst to provide hands-on analytical and reporting support during overlapping leadership leaves this fall and winter. This 4-month engagement is ideal for a Senior Financial Analyst or FP&A professional who thrives in fast-paced, data-driven environments and enjoys improving complex Excel models and financial processes.
Duration: ~4 months (late October start)
Location: North San Diego, hybrid 3–4 days onsite
Hours: Standard business hours (approx. 8–5; flexibility available)
Key Responsibilities
- Support monthly financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting activities
- Perform job costing, cost/benefit, and variance analysis across multiple departments
- Analyze P&L and balance sheet trends to support leadership decision-making
- Maintain and improve large, multi-tab Excel models (thousands of data lines) to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, accounting, and finance to provide actionable insights
- Contribute to process improvements and documentation during coverage for the Director of Finance and Controller
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years in accounting, FP&A, or financial analysis supporting budgets, forecasts, and P&L management
- Strong Excel proficiency – able to build and optimize complex financial models using functions, pivots, and formulas
- Experience with job costing and financial modeling (pricing, CapEx, or similar)
- Exposure to mid-to-large ERP systems (Made2Manage or equivalent)
- Manufacturing industry experience required (construction industry experience acceptable)
- Comfortable managing large data sets and working with competing priorities
Nice to Have
- Government contracting exposure (e.g., indirect rate analysis, proposal modeling)
- Prior experience improving existing forecasting or financial models
