A leading organization in the energy, utilities, and renewables space is seeking an Interim Senior Project Accountant to step in immediately and help drive the closeout of a large backlog of construction projects. This is a high-impact, hands-on role focused on execution, where you’ll be trusted to operate independently, solve problems, and make a visible difference quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project closeouts and clean up financials
- Reconcile contract values vs. billing (missed billings, change orders)
- Finalize EAC, commitments, and job costs
- Resolve PO and vendor discrepancies
- Partner cross-functionally to clear blockers and move projects to completion
- Deliver clear, actionable financial reporting
What Success Looks Like
- Projects are fully closed (financials reconciled, POs closed, billing complete)
- Backlog is reduced significantly within the engagement period
- The person operates independently and drives progress without constant oversight
Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of project accounting experience (construction preferred)
- Proven success in project closeout / cleanup work
- Strong EAC, job costing, and revenue recognition knowledge
- ERP experience (Vista Viewpoint or similar) + advanced Excel
- Ability to work independently with attention to detail & efficiency
