Commodities Fund – NYC – Tech Lead – Commodities opportunity in front office trading team

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

• University degree with top grades
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or like fields of study
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a programmer/developer
• Preferred: Minimum 3 years of professional experience within the IT Department of a trading and sales business in the Commodities Services Industry (Energy preferred)

PROFESSIONAL AREAS OF EXPERTISE AND OTHER COMPETENCIES:

• Minimum 3 years of experience with Python. Any other modern OOP language will be considered.
• Understanding of ETRM/CTRM Systems
• Knowledge of US Energy markets specifically power and natural gas businesses
• Knowledge of commodity lifecycles
• Experience with exchange trading systems
• Experience with ICE trading and eConfirm systems
• Object Database knowledge for instance Mongo DB
• Relational Database knowledge for instance Postgres, SQL Server
• AWS or any cloud infrastructure experience a plus
• GIT for source code management

OTHER SKILLS:

• Languages: English
• Communication skills to be able to act as a bridge between Traders, Quants and Tech
• Able to understand the needs of various functions such as Trading, Origination, Quant, Legal
• Strong analytical skills for fast problem solving, innovative and solution focused
• Ability to anticipate potential risks and identify control gaps, along with proposing solutions to eliminate such risks

MAIN TASKS:

• Development, implementation, and maintenance of software solutions for growing business
  • Front, middle, and back office technological ETRM needs
• Develop, extend, and support all technical aspects of Beacon ETRM. Subsystems, including:
  • Invoicing
  • Market data analytics and monitoring tool suite
  • Real time risk monitor
  • Confirms (Paper and eConfirm)
  • Inventory management
  • Var systems
  • Maintenance of third-party data
  • User account management
  • EOD batch process
  • Unit tests
  • Amazon Web Services account
  • Deal life-cycling
  • Reconciliation processes to ensure system data integrity
• Manage, support, and enhance interfaces with 3rd party systems including:
  • Automated feeds from exchanges
  • Risk and credit systems of Swiss parent
  • Power scheduling with third party scheduling systems and ISOs:
  • Regulatory Reporting Systems
  • Trade compliance monitoring system
