Overview:
The Corporate Operational Controller plays a vital role in overseeing the financial and operational aspects of the company. This position is responsible for managing accounting functions, financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll, cash flow, audits, tax compliance, and operational processes to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic goals. The Corporate Operational Controller will also partner closely with department heads and the Senior Leadership Team to provide insights that drive operational efficiency and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Leadership and Team Development:
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight to the General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll teams.
- Foster a high-performance culture by mentoring and developing team members.
2.Operational Financial Management:
- Manage the company’s operational accounting activities, including the General Ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Oversee cash flow, accounts payable, and payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
3.Performance Analysis and Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and operational performance reports.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify key drivers of operational and financial performance.
4.Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads to align financial goals with operational priorities.
- Monitor capital expenditures and operational budgets to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
5.Process and System Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement in financial and operational processes, leveraging ERP systems and other technologies to enhance efficiency and reporting.
- Implement robust internal controls to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
6.Compliance and Audit Management:
- Oversee the preparation of financial documents for audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage relationships with auditors and tax professionals to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
7.Strategic Partnership:
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to provide insights that drive operational excellence and financial sustainability.
- Act as a key advisor in strategic decision-making processes, offering data-driven recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in an operational role.
- Expertise in operational accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, with experience in Viewpoint/Vista or similar platforms preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Tableau or Crystal Reports is a plus.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and regulatory compliance requirements.
Additional Information:
- Up to 5% travel required to offices across New York, Vermont, and Massachusetts.
