SUMMARY:

This role is responsible for driving B2B sales and managing direct customer relationships with food manufacturers across various application categories. The primary objective is to grow market presence by prospecting new business opportunities, maintaining and expanding relationships with existing clients, and aligning with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and business success. The position is remotely based on the West Coast.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve revenue targets and expand market share in the B2B channel across categories like Baking, Beverage, Confection, Dairy, Nutraceutical, Plant-Based, Snacks, Spreads & Sauces.
  • Identify and prospect new business opportunities through market research, networking, and lead generation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, providing exceptional service and addressing their needs effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, marketing, product development, and customer support, to align and optimize the customer experience.
  • Prepare budget and forecast reports.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals, highlighting the value of products and services.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure favorable terms for both the company and the client.
  • Track and report sales performance with monthly updates to management.
  • Attend regional and national tradeshows.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or a business-related field.
  • 3-5 years of outside sales experience selling value-added ingredients within the industrial food industry.
  • Experience selling ingredients to manufacturers in categories like Baking, Beverage, Confection, Dairy, Frozen, Plant-based, Snacks & Spreads.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets and develop strong customer relationships.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Skilled in prospecting and developing new business opportunities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, adaptable to changing market conditions.
  • Willingness to travel within the region (25-40%).
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Canva.
